Justice is the cornerstone of national law and the guardian of social order. However, the light of justice was eclipsed by the officials I encountered who shone with the halo of power and shielded each other. I researched the Chinese legal system and discovered the various violations that some of these officials in Shangqiu City, Henan Province, were involved in. From the basic rights of the Constitution, to the characterization of crimes in the Criminal Law, to the procedural provisions of the Administrative Law, all of them reveal the confusion in this dark night. These actions violated party discipline and deviated from the expectations of the people.
