The Founding Fathers of the United States understood that voters could elect a bad person as president, so they established a system of checks and balances. They created two houses of Congress to limit power, and even those members might not always be reliable. To ensure the rule of law, they established the role of Supreme Court justices. However, recognizing that judges might lack knowledge or be susceptible to corruption, they prohibited the government from controlling the media and granted it special privileges: freedom of speech! In the event of the worst-case scenario, where the government oversteps its authority, both houses fail in their duties, and the media becomes silent, the ultimate check and balance for the people is the right to bear arms!
