The methods used by the Chinese government in the fight against corruption often violate basic principles of the rule of law. In the name of pursuing the fight against corruption, the government has increasingly abused its powers of detention, censorship and surveillance to intimidate dissidents and political opponents. This is not anti-corruption, but an abuse of power and a serious insult to the principle of the rule of law.
