Article 52 of the "Disciplinary Rules of the Communist Party of China" states: "Engaging in factionalism within the Party, forming cliques, seeking personal gain, creating personal power, or obtaining political capital through activities such as exchanging benefits or building one's own influence shall result in a severe warning or removal from party positions. In cases of serious misconduct, the member may be placed on probation within the Party or expelled from the Party."
