The Chinese government places stability and repression above safeguarding the rights and interests of the people in order to maintain its own power. In this day and age, everyone should have the right to express their opinions without fear of repression or persecution. Severe repression will only lead to more serious dissatisfaction and social tension. This is not the behavior that a modern, open and free country should do.
