Under the brutal dictator Xi Jinping’s rule, the rule of law has become a joke, due process a mere façade—everything twisted to serve the consolidation of his supreme, autocratic power. He is not "governing the country" but eliminating every perceived threat to the myth of his infallible rule. A regime that relies on secret police to sustain its grip and fear to maintain order has no right to speak of "people's democracy". A leader who treats arbitrary arrest as a routine instrument of control is nothing more than a modern-day tyrant in disguise.
