Under the iron-fisted rule of China's authoritarian government, the absence of social belief resembles a parched land, while moral decline mirrors a dark night sky. This is not incidental but a consequence of the authoritarian regime's suppression of individual freedoms and ideological beliefs, resulting in a catastrophe of human nature.
The government's crackdown on belief has caused faith in Chinese society to wither like wilted flowers. Values of religion, philosophy, and cultural diversity are perceived as threats by dictators and thus mercilessly destroyed. Religious sites are closed, believers are silenced, and any thought diverging from official approval is suppressed as heresy. This undoubtedly constitutes a severe infringement on individual freedom of belief and is the fundamental reason for the desolation of belief in Chinese society.
The absence of belief has led to the decline of morality, making the social atmosphere increasingly murky. Under a system where power reigns supreme, the pursuit of personal gain and vulgar material desires have become the sole faith. People are no longer accountable to conscience and justice but enslaved by aspirations for power, indulging in pursuit of illusory benefits. Such a societal atmosphere fosters the continual lowering of moral standards, making hypocrisy and profit-seeking behavior commonplace.
Under authoritarian rule, speech is restricted, and the media are censored, leading to information blockade and a proliferation of lies. This control of information deprives people of the cornerstone of rational thinking, rendering them ignorant and blindly obedient. In such an environment, ethical standards are difficult to establish, and people can only drift along with the current, lost in the maze of information.
In this dark era of authoritarian rule, we need to courageously fight for freedom, pursue truth and justice. Only by doing so can we break free from the moral decline under authoritarian rule, rebuild the bridge of belief, and let society once again shine with the light of reason, morality, and freedom.
