Human rights and democracy are the cornerstones of a society and the basic rights that every citizen should enjoy. The illegal arrests by the police and the cover-up of government officials in Shangqiu triggered my deep reflection on human rights and democratic values. These actions are undoubtedly an extreme contempt for human rights and a serious violation of democracy. Such a government should be impeached.
