Today marks the first anniversary of Li Keqiang's passing.
The shock I felt upon hearing of Li Keqiang's death last year was beyond words!
If someone like Li Keqiang, a former Premier of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), can be drowned, what chance do ordinary citizens have of avoiding sudden and arbitrary disappearance?
I feel fortunate to have left that land, yet my heart aches for those still living there.
As the former Premier of China, Li Keqiang was responsible for managing China's domestic affairs and economic development. However, during his ten-year tenure, his policies were seldom implemented effectively or taken seriously., and towards the end of his time in office, he was effectively sidelined.
Li Keqiang was a steady and pragmatic official who firmly supported reform and opening up. However, under the CCP's mafia-like regime, Xi Jinping's extreme leftist ideology, disregard for rules and laws, and ruthless tactics, Li Keqiang's decade in office was marked by a drastic erosion of his powers as Premier, making him the weakest in the history of the CCP.
Li Keqiang’s passing is not just a personal tragedy, it illustrates that even a former Premier is not guaranteed personal safety. It also reflects a greater tragedy for the Chinese people, who lack any guarantee of personal safety themselves, as white terror is on the rise.
Over these ten years, we have witnessed China’s economy transition from prosperity to decline, the erosion of limited freedoms, and the complete obliteration of democracy.
During these years, we have also witnessed the CCP, under Xi Jinping’s leadership, subject the people to brutal repression, witnessed dissidents disappear without trace, and witnessed innocent friends and relatives suffer by association, as the ancient imperial collective punishment system is revived.
Over these years, we have borne witness to the hardships of the Chinese people, their silent cries, the silencing of the media, and the suppression of free speech. We have seen the CCP implement grid-style control over the population, monitoring people without any blind spots.
In this decade, we have seen many Chinese people flee this authoritarian regime, sparking the largest wave of departures in history.
Despite the CCP’s surveillance, which seems all-encompassing, the pressure on the people continues to mount. One day, somehow, the people will bring this authoritarian regime to an end, extinguish this dictatorship, and restore freedom and democracy to China.
The CCP's autocratic rule and ruthless suppression of the people will inevitably lead to an eruption of resistance when the people can bear it no longer. The people’s struggle will ultimately bring an end to the Xi dynasty, and all the illegal acts of the Xi regime will be thoroughly accounted for. A rope will eventually bring down the great dictator.
Freedom and democracy are the inevitable trends of human history, and no clown or gang can stop the march of progress.
Stop dreaming, start fighting!
